MISADVENTURES IN ADVENTURING
An attempt to document my career change from a desk job to someone with a terrible beard that climbs stuff sometimes, gets lost most times and paddles the rest…
Challenging myself to do something new...
How do you take a shit in the woods? How do you work out where you are in the dark?
Can you find where you parked the car? How do you repel midges? Which colourful berries can I eat? Which will just make me shit some more?
All of the above and many more were the big questions I had once I decided I wanted to spend more time in the wild and become an outdoor instructor.
I'll admit that I'm only finding out the answers slowly, but when I do find them I figured it might be helpful to post these essential lessons learned here before you shit in the wrong place as I have.
Maybe my tips and experiences will help you, maybe you'll question their wisdom or accuracy (please let me know), maybe they'll inspire you or just make you chuckle?
Either way, I'm just happy you're here 🙂 Buckle in, it's going to be quite a ride!

Become a hobby jockey
Getting outdoors isn't just about packing in the day job and hitting the hills, it can just be about finding a new hobby...
That's why I've also spent so much time trying out different new stuff right across the UK because I believe 100% in the positive influence a hobby can have on your life and those around you.
Whether it's just about finding new friends, getting outdoors or pushing yourself by overcoming basic fears I hope you can find something that you can love.
That's why I've allllllso written up a few of the things I've tried just in case they can inspire you too 🙂
